Surfing the Web with Internet Explorer IE7

The following article came about due to some readers of NorthValleys.org having issues while using Internet Explorer V7 (IE7.)

Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 7 (IE7) is Microsoft's best browser to date, but there are aspects of IE7 that also make it the worst.

Worst because all recent versions of IE have something called "Active X" which makes IE more powerful, but also makes IE inherently a security risk. Microsoft addressed this in IE7 by adding another layer of security functions. This is not in of itself a problem, however this does require the user to be more proactive in their usage of IE7.

Another recently discovered problem in IE7 or IE6, is when going to a screen with video on it, it is difficult to exit while the video is downloading, this is not true in Firefox or Opera.

  • Solutions
In IE7 learn about the various security settings with pop-up blocking and to approve specific sites.
For information click Help or press F1
  • Or download and use either Firefox or Opera both are free.
